Our Plant Engineering Supervisor contributes to the success of UltiMed to manufacture and distribute premium quality injection devices and related medical products with a focus on serving people and pets with diabetes. This position is primarily responsible for the overall mechanical and electrical needs of the manufacturing facility and equipment. RESPONSIBILITIES: Manage, supervise and/or perform the overall maintenance and repair tasks as required to support the manufacturing and facility operation activities: Determine preventive maintenance PM schedule and required PM tasks for all plant and manufacturing equipment and ensure all PMs are completed and documented successfully and on time. Leverage the Maintenance Management System database for all record keeping tasks. Identify spare and replacement parts and quantities needed to maintain satisfactory machine up time ensure they are budgeted and approved for purchase and maintain/track them within the spare parts inventory. Examples of manufacturing and plant maintenance equipment include but are not limited to: Product-specific manufacturing or packaging equipment Label applicators In-line bar code and text printers and scanners/verifiers Plastic film wrappers and heat shrinkers Case box tapers/sealers Sterilization chambers Air compressors HEPA air filtration system HVAC units Overhead lighting and emergency egress lighting Facility security system and building access Support the overall Safety Policies and Procedures in all departments: Have a constant mindset to identify and remedy any situation where there is a potential threat to employees physical safety either through an environmental condition in the plant or on the plant grounds or through manufacturing or plant equipment that poses a risk of bodily harm. Support overall product quality within the manufacturing of UltiMed products: Fully understand the theory of operation of all manufacturing equipment along with the settings and adjustments of the machinery and how they impact manufacturing specifications. Demonstrate skill in analyzing a discrepant product and determining the failure mode so that a proper root cause diagnosis and resulting permanent solution can be achieved. Demonstrate discipline with problem solving by eliminating just one variable at a time so as not to introduce additional confusion into the problem Maintain thorough notes describing theories about problems, their potential solutions, and the results of initial trial runs and pilot studies. Understand and help troubleshoot production software issues, including CoLOS and PLC programming. Assist with new equipment design and installation. Manage custodial functions within the plant including cleaning of all spaces, surfaces and fixtures, collection and disposal of trash to the dumpster, collection and baling of all corrugated, snow removal, lawn mowing Manage and lead the plant maintenance and custodial team Supervise assigned staff and provide work direction Conduct performance reviews and merit adjustments Facilitate necessary training to provide staff with the skills needed to succeed in the job Interview, hire, train, coach, develop, promote, discipline staff as needed: Other duties as assigned REQUIREMENTS: High school graduate with 2-year technical degree in related field required. 4-year technical degree a strong plus. 10 years or more manufacturing experience in a plant that utilizes some degree of automation and robotics. 5 years or more previous supervisory and personnel management Good computer skills Good written and verbal communication skills Highly organized and detail-oriented Must be hands-on and have the ability to coach others on production systems. Have basic knowledge of CAD software and Print reading Have basic understanding of PLC programming and capability to modify ladder logic to alter machine performance. Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude Basic mechanical, carpentry, electrician and plumbing skills.
